On our way out of Boston and its inclement weather (I mean, a storm on the 2 days we were there), we took a short drive to Cambridge, MA. While looking for a place to park we drove by a nice sewing lounge called Gather here

The clever name and nice sign outside made me want to stop and take a peak.
This place is really a gem. It has a nice selection of modern quilting fabric, some Liberty prints, notions, cute independent patterns like Megan Nielsen’s and Lisette’s and some books.
They also have classes there…so there are nice Berninas and a great cutting table.

True to its name there is also a great selection of natural yarns…it made me want to take up knitting again.

Aren’t they gorgeous?
Sono fantastici, vero?
There was even a small kitchen area which made me think they may provide coffee and refreshments for people attending their courses
It was great to see all those fabrics I had always seen online right in front of me. I wanted to sit down and sew there and then…get the fabric to make this pretty Lisette Market skirt…but the fabric was sold out and started to feel guilty for the boy waiting outside…So I said goodbye to this lovely store to hit the road again.
Do you recognize the skirt fabric? I forgot to ask the name.

The skirt fabric looks like wool (herringbone) tweed.

I’m so jealous of all your adventures in the US. May I ask what brings you to this side of the Atlantic?

What a fun trip! I’m envious — Gather Here looks like an amazing place. I knit as well as sew, so I would probably never leave that place — your photos look so beautiful. I saw that you’ll be in NYC. One of my must-go places is a trim shop called M&J Trim (www.mjtrim.com). They have an outstanding selection of notions and I always get inspired just browsing the store. Have fun!
